Throughout the years, women have started to gain ground and positioning themselves to acquire jobs and doing things that were previously seen as men's exclusively. It was to be expected, that segregation of chores shouldn't have been going on in the first place. Women are more than prepared to carry responsibilities that men have always had and gender equality is a serious topic these days.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about the future possibility of women entering major sports dominated by men. Some people think there might be a possibility others don't, but you sure can't judge those women who would like to make the jump over to these "men" leagues or at least want to be treated to the same extent since the differences in following and pay are wide.
During the last couple of years we have seen how the major sports leagues in USA have made history when one of their teams has hired a women to their coaching staff. In the NBA, Becky Hammon became the first woman ever to be an assistant in the league when the San Antonio Spurs hired her . Also in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith in January 2016 making her the first ever full time coach in the NFL's history. Now a couple of weeks ago another woman made history in world of sports. Jennie Finch, a renown gold medal winner with the USA Softball National team, was named the manager for one day for he Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic Independent League. We can see what the trend is here, but will we see a woman play in one of these major leagues one day?
Certainly this day is coming closer and closer. Two days ago the Sonoma Stompers made history by signing two women to their roster for just the third time since the 1950's that a women plays for a professional baseball team. Kelsie Whitmore and Stacy Piagno were the two women signed by the Stompers and that will be watched closely by people around the nation.
There are some obvious physiological differences between men and women that might put women in a disadvantage against men. However there are some mental advantages that might help women compete over men and to be honest we have seen many stories where the smaller man beats the bigger stronger one. One thing we must have present is that if a women has the abilities to compete and help a team win she must not be turned away because of here gender. We have seen people like Jackie Robinson break barriers before, we might see a woman in the future break another one.
